Sealions vs Ajax
21 June 2008, edde @ 5:16 am

Ouying finally made her return to the Sealions Lineup last weekend, June 14th. The Sealions played against Ajax on Nansen Field. The match was very close in the first half. Lu made many great saves. However, the second half played a bit different and Ajax ended up winning 3-1. But there’s a bright note! Ouying made the Sealions only goal and did it by charging forward to the goal and scoring with about 3 minutes to go. Click on “edde’s Photo Galleries” to see all of the action.

Ouying’s First Game Back
6 June 2008, edde @ 12:51 pm

Thursday June 5th Ouying played her first game in over a month with the Mission Valley YMCA Intermediate Indoor League. She played with our friend Carol’s team Still Kicking vs Nomads. Ou is trying to get back into playing form to prepare for her games with The San Diego Sealions the week of June 9th. Starting Monday she will have a vigorous schedule: Monday/Wednesday PWSL games, Tuesday/Thursday Sealions training, Friday COED Indoor play, Saturday/Sunday Sealions Games.
This summer will be even busier with Ouying participating in Julie Foudy’s 2 Camps for young girls in late July early August. I’ll have more information soon. For now, enjoy pictures from last night’s game, which Still Kicking did win!

Ouying Update
23 May 2008, edde @ 12:59 pm

Lately I’ve been reading Sina Sports and Sohu, the two largest websites dedicated to news about Chinese sports. Since Coach Ruihua returned in April the Women’s National Team has taken a turn for the worse. Ouying thought it would be a good atmosphere for her since they have a history together, but that didn’t seem to matter. Sina and Sohu don’t even mention Ouying’s name any longer. I believe they are getting pressure from the Federation. However, older players like Wenxia have been cut from the team as well. She is the Goalie. Coach Ruihua seems to only want younger players and I believe China is going to lose early on in the Olympics. It’s amazing why they only want Pu Wei back. With Ma hurt they need a back up Striker with experience. That would be Ou. It all very political now, but it’s their choice. I know the players have their own views, but they can’t say very much. It either gets overlooked or they are scared.

Right now Ouying is with family and getting ready to come back to San Diego. Summer in San Diego is going to be a brighter and better place with her back.

Ouying Is Coming Home!!!
13 May 2008, edde @ 7:41 am

Foregoing a miracle, Ouying’s bid to play in her 3rd Olympic Games has come to an end. Once the National Team changed Head Coaches she was fighting an uphill battle. The team decided to go in a different direction. Ou could have gone the route of Pu Wei, which is to beg and go to the media, but she has too much self-respect. I have many opinions on this, but Ouying has asked me to hold my tongue. So I will.

Regardless, Ou will be back. We plan on beginning focusing on a new direction. There is always the WPS in 2009!

Thank you to everyone who has supported Ou. It meant alot to her.

Latest Photo Excursions
12 May 2008, edde @ 2:28 pm

This past weekend was very busy. Saturday morning the 10th Annual LiverWalk was held in Balboa Park, where the San Diego Sealions participated with demonstrations and gifts for the crowds. After that Lu Snyder’s over 30’s team played at Robb Field. They dominated their opponents and looked great!
Sunday morning I walked the San Diego Zoo. It was quiet and peaceful that morning. I saw many families with their moms for Mother’s Day, but it was very empty.
Regardless, I was able to get many nice photos. Please go to “Edde’s Photo Galleries” to check out my latest photos.
